The National Civic Summit’s Social Media Innovation Continues at the Citizens League Annual Meeting 10.29.09

For those of you who were able to join us this summer at the National Civic Summit, you were part of a groundbreaking socially civic group. The collaboaration of Nate Garvis, Mark Ritchie and Sean Kershaw were the perfect collection of thought leaders designed to create a new civic conversation. And, you said yes to it in a big way.

We are pretty confident that we have now created the largest collective civic-focused conversation online in America today- we’ve done our homework and haven’t found another.

We also know that you respond when we reach out to you- over 30% of you ar clicking through to social content links when we send out our opt-in emails, and our social media content venues show impressive, friend, view and follower levels.

We even invited you to join in virtually to the National Conference on Citizenship in Washington DC this fall and from our links alone, we doubled the live attendance of the day. We contributed more than 500 virtual attendees!

So, the leadership has custom tailored the Citizens League Annual Meeting to include the social media communication you are looking for in addition to the fun and inspirational live conversations at the event.

The National Civic Summit brought us together and started the conversation, and now Nate Garvis will take it to the next level with his Naked Civic presentation at the Citizens League Annual Meeting. National Conference on Citizenship goes Virtual

The National Conference on Citizenship- Library of Congress Event 9.9.09

This is your LAST CHANCE to signup for their annual event – registration closes TOMORROW. The National Conference on Citizenship is taking place next Wednesday, September 9 from 9 AM to 1 PM at the Library of Congress, with breakfast beginning at 8 AM. See the speakers and make sure you’re registered at http://ncoc.net/conference This year, NCoC is expanding beyond the conference walls to allow individuals who cannot join us in Washington DC to participate online, especially those in high school and college classrooms. If your class would like to participate in the virtual conference, email kcambell@ncoc.net, and we will work with you to bring your questions to the conference mainstage. Through the utilization of several forms of social media (also known as Web 2.0 technologies), virtual attendees will be able to watch conference programming, submit questions to our speakers, and provide comments online. We will be streaming the event online and every time the conference opens for questions, our “Twitter Correspondents Desk” will make sure we take one that was submitted online. Visit our website to get all the details on how to participate in the 2009 virtual conference , including our Twitter hashtag (#NCoC) and links to subscribe to the U-Stream. The National Civic Summit is organizing a collective civic conversation that has been going on in good corporate citizen organizations with civic-minded professionals like Lee Anderson from General Mills.

Building the National Civic Summit- VIP Civic Voices Campaign

Part of the vision of the National Civic Summit is to give away the tools of the trade to all who want to do civic good in this country. While this may seem like we are giving away our “secret sauce” and that others can then replicate what we do an make us not needed, I would share that there is much to be done! I look forward to others capitalizing on what we have learned, sharing their experiences and collaborating in new social ways as we freely share them.

In this blog I am focused on our Civic Voices Campaign and how bringing together key civic leaders, capturing them on video or in an audio format can generate exctiement and momentum for any initiative.

National Civic Summit is about Designing Citizenship

Last week during the National Civic Summit, Nate Garvis, VP of Government Affairs & Senior Public Affairs Officer, spoke about creating the civic fabric of America. Citing that the event was a collection of uber citizens, he asks people to consider not moving right or left, but forward.
